Basketball Recap: Westview Skates Past Fallbrook with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Westview over Fallbrook in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Westview Wolverines blew the Fallbrook Warriors out of the water with a 73-34 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-13.

Sarah Heyn was her usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 assists. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. Maren Zimmer was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Westview was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Fallbrook saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Nordeen dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. Nordeen has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 51 times she's played. Emma Donaldson also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Westview is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Fallbrook, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.

Westview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 45-37 victory against Rancho Bernardo on the 24th. Fallbrook has also already played their next contest, a 93-55 loss against Mission Hills on the 24th.
