Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Evelyn Quinonez and Liliana Word Lead Lakeview Charter to Victory

It was a proper cat-fight when Lakeview Charter faced off against Triumph Charter on Friday. The Lakeview Charter Lions took down the Triumph Charter Jaguars 39-23. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jaguars, too.

Lakeview Charter was led to victory by Liliana Word and Evelyn Quinonez. Word went 11 for 16 en route to 27 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Quinonez almost dropped a double-double on nine assists and 15 steals. The dominant performance gave Quinonez a new career-high in steals. Aimee Castro also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Lakeview Charter's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Triumph Charter, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record.

Lakeview Charter will square off against Community Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Triumph Charter, they will face off against Valley Oaks CES at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
