Softball Recap: Warrensburg Comes Up Short

Warrensburg extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-13. They lost 8-1 to the Odessa Bulldogs. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 12-7 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Warrensburg saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aspen Osborn, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Kenzie Crouch also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Odessa, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.

On Odessa's side, Bella Blackaby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Odessa let Keely Byrd and Emery LaBoube run wild. Byrd got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while LaBoube went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Byrd has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Pierson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Warrensburg will challenge Oak Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Odessa, they will take on Albany on Saturday.
