Football Game Preview: South Pontotoc Cougars vs. North Pontotoc Vikings + How To Watch

The South Pontotoc Cougars will head out to challenge the North Pontotoc Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Pontotoc is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

South Pontotoc's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against New Albany on Friday. They had to suffer through a 42-0 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 50th).

Meanwhile, after only six points in their last matchup, North Pontotoc made sure to put some points up on the board against West Bolivar on Friday. The Vikings claimed a resounding 43-0 win over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

South Pontotoc better keep an eye on Drew Winfun. He was instrumental in North Pontotoc's win, throwing for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also punching in one TD on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Winfun a new career-high in passer rating (167.8).

South Pontotoc's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for North Pontotoc, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

South Pontotoc beat North Pontotoc 14-3 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
