Basketball Game Preview: Carrick Raiders vs. Northgate Flames

The Carrick Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Northgate Flames at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Carrick is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Geibel Catholic just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They had to suffer through a 60-24 loss at the hands of the Gators. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-7.

Meanwhile, Northgate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. 2025 welcomed they with a 45-19 loss courtesy of Carlynton. The Flames were down 41-11 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Carrick's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Northgate, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Carrick didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Northgate when the teams last played back in February of 2018, but they still walked away with a 53-49 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carrick since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
