Cibola was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Sandia on Thursday. The Cougars blew past the Matadors 46-24. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 47-6 win the Matadors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Cibola's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB 4.5 times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Andrew Lueras and Jacob Newman, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece.

The victory got Cibola back to even at 1-1. As for Sandia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
