Baseball Game Preview: Bethlehem Christian Academy Knights vs. Sayre Spartans

The Bethlehem Christian Academy Knights will take on the Sayre Spartans at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bethlehem Christian Academy 3.2, Sayre 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sayre will be up against a hot Bethlehem Christian Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Knights never let Somerset get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Sayre finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to Tate. That makes it the first time this season the Spartans have let down their home crowd.

Owen Murphy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Sayre saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Herrera, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Cole Tackett also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Sayre's loss dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Bethlehem Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.
