Softball Recap: Hillsboro Has No Trouble Against Jefferson

It was a Battle of the Birds when Hillsboro challenged Jefferson on Monday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Blue Jays. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Blue Jays: they've now won nine in a row.

Ashley Hilton was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Hilton was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Maizy Sabourin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Molly Johnston, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hillsboro now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Jefferson, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Hillsboro will head out to face off against Cor Jesu Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson, they will be playing at home against Saxony Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
