Basketball Recap: Oakdale Comes Up Short

Oakdale played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Mountain House Mustangs 48-16. While losing is never fun, Oakdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 780th, while Mountain House is ranked 182nd).

Mountain House's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jariah Indalecio led the charge by going 5 for 10 en route to 11 points and six steals. Indalecio has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Niaja Harris, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Oakdale has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Mountain House, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.

Oakdale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-46 loss against Central Catholic on the 16th. As for Mountain House, they will head out to face off against Sierra at 7:30 p.m. on January 21st. Sierra will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mountain House surely won't give up without a fight.
