Hilmar falls despite strong effort from Alicia Souza

Recap: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Riverbank Bruins

The Hilmar Yellowjackets lost against the Riverbank Bruins on January 2nd, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Hilmar lost to the Bruins at home by a decisive 52-35 margin. Hilmar has struggled against the Bruins recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Hilmar still got an impressive performance from Alicia Souza, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Souza hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Emma Gomes was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverbank to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rayne Tago, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Tago is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was taylor macias, who scored 12 points along with four steals.

Hilmar has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Riverbank, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilmar will face off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ripon is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Riverbank, they will head out on the road to take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Escalon is ranked 178th, while the Bruins are ranked 164th).
