Basketball Recap: Chico Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 33-33 at halftime, Chico was not quite Alameda's equal in the second half on Saturday. They fell 62-53 to the Alameda Hornets. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hornets 19-13 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Chico lost, don't look at Josie Carlos. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on her way to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Solano, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Chico and nudges their season record down to 13-8. As for Alameda, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Chico Panthers face off against the Foothill Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alameda, they are taking a road trip to face off against San Leandro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
