Basketball Recap: Wood Wildcats vs. Vallejo Redhawks        
        
		
             Wood had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with  a   40-31  win over the Vallejo Redhawks  on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
 Wood found their leader in sophomore  Mikyah Dixon, who  dropped  a double-double on 17 points and 18  rebounds.  Nateyah Ebuen was another key player,  earning five points along with five  rebounds and two  steals.
 Wood  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with ten  offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least ten  offensive rebounds in eight consecutive  contests  dating back to last season.
 Vallejo's  defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of  Veekie Head, who  dropped  a double-double on 12 points and ten  rebounds, and  Taliyah Davis, who  had seven points along with ten  rebounds. What's more,  Davis also posted a 33%  field goal percentage, which is the highest she's  posted since back in January.
 Vallejo's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
 Wood has already played their next match,  a  47-24  defeat against Pleasant Grove on the 27th. As for Vallejo, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  matchup,  a  60-18  loss against Eureka on the 29th.
