Softball Recap: Seward Gets the Win

The Seward Bluejays sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Cozad Haymakers on Saturday.

Lauren Frihauf and Ali Theobald did most of the damage at the plate: Frihauf went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Theobald went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Frihauf has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Kalliea Vest also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Seward's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Cozad, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Coming up, Seward will take on Gering in a tournament on Saturday. The Bluejays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Cozad, they will host Chase County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
