Softball Recap: Mayer Sets Scoring Season-High Against Highland Prep West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mayer). They were the clear victors by a 24-11 margin over the Highland Prep West HORNETS on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rilee Evans was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Mayer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was since the start of last season.

Mayer's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Highland Prep West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayer will head out to face off against Maryvale Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Matador have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Highland Prep West, they will venture away from home to take on Mohave Accelerated at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
