Softball Recap: Cass Takes a Loss

Cass extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-13. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Freeman Falcons. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 8-5 to the Falcons when the teams met back in August of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Emma Rainey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Sailor Manske was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

As for Freeman, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.

On Freeman's side, Bryleigh Crouse was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coincidentally, Cass and Freeman will both be playing Wayne the next time they take the field. The Falcons will head out to face the Blue Devils at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
