Hoover came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Pacific Ridge, but Maddie Wernig wouldn't allow it. The Firebirds took down the Cardinals 48-29 on Saturday thanks in part to Wernig, who posted 18 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

Pacific Ridge's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Hoover, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pacific Ridge will host San Dieguito Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hoover, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Patrick Henry at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' defense has only allowed 29.5 points per game this season, so the Cardinals' offense will have their work cut out for them.
