Softball Game Preview: Centralia Panthers vs. North Callaway Thunderbirds

Centralia is on a four-game streak of home wins, while North Callaway is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will face off against the Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Centralia will be strutting in after a win while North Callaway will be coming in after a defeat.

Centralia's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Clark County with a sharp 7-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, North Callaway suffered their biggest loss since September 27th on Saturday. They lost 23-6 to Hallsville.

Sophia Olsson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kendra Pennell, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

Centralia's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for North Callaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-9.

Centralia was able to grind out a solid victory over North Callaway in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 3-0. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
