Softball Recap: Atlanta Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Atlanta ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Higbee Tigers 8-7. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered an 11-10 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Whitney Baker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Aiyana Payton, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Atlanta's record is now 3-7. As for Higbee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3.

Coming up, Atlanta will head out to square off against Novinger at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Higbee, they will welcome Jamestown at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
