Basketball Recap: Rancho Cotate Skates Past Berkeley with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rancho Cotate). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Berkeley Yellowjackets 68-34. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 27 points or more this season.

Rancho Cotate got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabella Scardina out in front who posted eight points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniela Campos, who made all 6 shots she took to post 16 points and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Rancho Cotate and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for Berkeley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Rancho Cotate won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Las Lomas at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rancho Cotate has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Berkeley, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Concord at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
