Football Game Preview: Bloomington South Panthers vs. Columbus North Bull Dogs

The Bloomington South Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Columbus North Bull Dogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bloomington South knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Columbus North likes a good challenge.

Bloomington South is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 54-7 win over Southport. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Bloomington South relied on the efforts of Duncan Combs, who threw for 227 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 15-for-15 passing, and Shaun Cooper, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave Combs a new career-high in passer rating (177.1).

Meanwhile, while Columbus North put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Terre Haute North Vigo. The Bull Dogs breezed past the Patriots to the tune of 42-0. Given the Bull Dogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Patriots are ranked 193rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bloomington South's record is now 6-0. As for Columbus North, their record now sits at 4-2.

Bloomington South ended up a good deal behind Columbus North in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 32-14. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
