Softball Recap: Montrose Extends Winning Streak to Three

Montrose strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Clinton Cardinals. This was payback for the Blue Jays, who suffered a 5-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Montrose got a massive performance out of Kaylee Mott, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs. Kate Wareham was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Montrose kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Montrose's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Clinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montrose will head out to face off against Climax Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clinton, they will venture away from home to challenge Pleasant Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Cardinals' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
