Softball Recap: Luella Find Success

Luella's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hampton Hornets a 16-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Ayleen Montoya was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamiah Barnes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Luella always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampton only posted an OBP of .308.

Luella now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Hampton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Luella will welcome Riverdale at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hampton, they will face off against McDonough at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
