Baseball Recap: Hancock Owls vs. Canby Lancers

Hancock had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-12 to make it seven. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Canby Lancers. The Owls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

As for Canby, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.

For Canby's part, Jace Rangaard made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Rangaard has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Cash Antony was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Wyatt Hentges also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Coming up, Hancock will take on Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Owls' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Canby, they will be playing at home against Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
