Preview: Del Valle Cardinals vs. Austin Maroons
The Del Valle Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Austin Maroons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Del Valle is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-3, which was the final score in Del Valle's tilt against Dripping Springs on Friday. Del Valle was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Meanwhile, Austin had to suffer through a rough 62-14 loss at the hands of Lake Travis. While losing is never fun, Austin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 497th, while Lake Travis is ranked 50th).
The losses dropped Del Valle to 1-8 and Austin to 2-7.
Del Valle didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Austin in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 37-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Del Valle since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
