Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Freeman's Winning Streak

Freeman fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Grand Island Central Catholic on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 6-5. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Taelyn Lang was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Beu, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

The loss snapped Freeman's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 17-11 record. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Coincidentally, Freeman and Grand Island Central Catholic will both be playing Wahoo the next time they take the field. The Falcons will host the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Crusaders will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
