Basketball Recap: Lincolnton Takes a Loss

Lincolnton lost against Lake Norman Charter back in February of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Wolves took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. The game marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Lincolnton still got an impressive performance from Josiah Guyton, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 22 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Guyton is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 19 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Smith, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards.

It was another big night for Collin McConneyhead, who shot 67% from the field en route to 25 points for Lake Norman Charter. That makes it four consecutive games in which McConneyhead has scored at least a third of the Knights' points. Drew Nelson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Lincolnton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Lake Norman Charter, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Lincolnton will venture away from home to take on Burns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Lake Norman Charter, they will be playing at home against Community School of Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season.
