Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Rich Knott and Rocco Haggard Lead Tanque Verde to Victory

Tanque Verde won against Thatcher back in December of 2024 with 75 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. The Tanque Verde Hawks strolled past The Gregory School Hawks with points to spare, taking the game 75-59. For Tanque Verde, this counts as revenge for the 72-47 win The Gregory School walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.

Tanque Verde was led to victory by Rocco Haggard and Rich Knott. Haggard went 9 of 18 on his way to 24 points, while Knott dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten assists. Haggard is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Espinoza, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Tanque Verde pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for The Gregory School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Tanque Verde Hawks face off against the Empire Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for The Gregory School, they will square off against Hayden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gregory School is facing Hayden at the right time seeing as Hayden is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
