Recap: Conestoga Christian Cougars vs. Lititz Christian Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to the Conestoga Christian Cougars, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 49-30 to Lititz Christian. Conestoga Christian has not had much luck with Lititz Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Conestoga Christian saw an underclassman step up: Katie Denlinger scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Even though they lost, Conestoga Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Lititz Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Afton Urquhart led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Urquhart pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Christner, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Conestoga Christian bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lititz Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Conestoga Christian will head out on the road to face off against Coventry Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Coventry Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Lititz Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Harrisburg Academy at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Harrisburg Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 back in December of 2023.
