Baseball Recap: Hunterdon Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Somerville on Thursday, Hunterdon Central came back down to earth. The Red Devils fell just short of the Lenape Indians by a score of 5-4 on Saturday.

Danny Contiliano was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Chase Reinhard was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Hunterdon Central's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Lenape, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Hunterdon Central will be playing at home against Hopewell Valley Central at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Lenape, they will venture away from home to challenge Cherry Hill East at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
