Basketball Recap: La Habra's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

La Habra was handed a 50-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-35 victory over the Cypress Centurions. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Highlanders as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

When it comes to explaining why Cypress lost, don't look at Jocelyn Tani. Despite the final result, she posted seven points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Tani a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Leah Shigekawa, who scored eight points and eight boards.

La Habra's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-16. As for Cypress, they dropped their record down to 10-11 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

La Habra wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-27 defeat against Sonora on the 24th. Cypress has also already played their next match, a 48-28 loss against Yorba Linda on the 24th.
