Baseball Game Preview: Eastlake Wolves vs. Puyallup Vikings

The Eastlake Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Puyallup Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eastlake will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Eastlake's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Bothell.

The team relied heavily on Noah Koong, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Puyallup gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Mount Vernon as Puyallup made off with a 10-4 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Mason Pike made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, DJ Ringenbach was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Keagan Soliza was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Eastlake's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Puyallup, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Eastlake skirted past Puyallup 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastlake since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
