Football Game Preview: Cascade Champions vs. Watertown Purple Tigers

Cascade is 1-7 against Watertown since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Champions will be playing at home against the Purple Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Cascade has given up an average of 26.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cascade is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Forrest on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Champions were outmatched by the Rockets and fell 50-20. The Champions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sam Bradley, who threw for 188 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 66 yards. A healthy portion of Bradley's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Corey Gooch, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Watertown came up short against Sequatchie County last Friday and fell 35-28. The loss continues a trend for the Purple Tigers in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost three in a row.

Watertown's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Cascade, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Things could have been worse for Cascade, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 20-3 loss to Watertown when the teams last played back in September of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Purple Tigers' Garrett Davis, who rushed for 61 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries, and also picked up 32 receiving yards.
