Soccer Game Preview: Swainsboro vs. Woodville-Tompkins

Swainsboro hasn't had much luck against Woodville-Tompkins recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Swainsboro Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. Swainsboro will be strutting in after a win while Woodville-Tompkins will be coming in after a loss.

Woodville-Tompkins better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Swainsboro really gets things going. Swainsboro was the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Montgomery County on Monday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-goal performance the game before.

They hit Montgomery County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Cristian Garcia (2), Peyton Taylor, and Matias Castillo.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten goals the game before, Woodville-Tompkins was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They fell just short of Vidalia by a score of 2-1.

Woodville-Tompkins' defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Swainsboro, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Swainsboro suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Woodville-Tompkins in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can Swainsboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
