Basketball Game Preview: Mountain House Mustangs vs. Sierra Timberwolves

The Mountain House Mustangs will head out to square off against the Sierra Timberwolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain House is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Mountain House is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Oakdale: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mountain House blew Oakdale out of the water with a 48-16 final score. Mountain House has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 25 points or more this season.

Mountain House's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jariah Indalecio, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points and six steals. Indalecio is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Niaja Harris was another key player, putting up 15 points and three steals.

Mountain House smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Sierra's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against East Union, falling 62-40. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while the Lancers are ranked 164th).

Mountain House pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Sierra, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
