Basketball Recap: Sophia Schmader's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brockway over Cameron County

Brockway was the 36-26 winner over Cameron County when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Brockway Rovers fell just short of the Cameron County Raiders by a score of 38-35 on Monday. The Rovers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brockway lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sophia Schmader, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Schmader has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Morrison, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Brockway was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Brockway now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Cameron County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brockway and Johnsonburg will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cameron County will take on Coudersport in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
