Basketball Recap: Cordova Takes a Loss

Cordova was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were beaten by the West Park Panthers 59-28. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 910th, while the Panthers are ranked 343rd).

West Park was led to victory by Aliyah Villarama and Ciara Miller. Villarama went 6 for 14 en route to 15 points and five rebounds, while Miller posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Miller continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jill Ngo was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Cordova's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for West Park, they moved to 13-10 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Cordova didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-21 loss against Inderkum on the 25th. As for West Park, they will welcome Antelope at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
