Baseball Recap: Southwest Dekalb Has No Trouble Against Dougherty

Southwest DeKalb's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Dougherty Trojans with a sharp 19-7 win. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Kameron Scott and Montagus Phillips made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Scott tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Phillips tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Southwest DeKalb: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-11 otherwise. At bat, Scott scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-5, while Phillips scored three runs while going 2-for-5. Those three runs gave Phillips a new career-high.

In other batting news, Aaron Barber was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Desmond McCord was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Southwest DeKalb kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
