Basketball Recap: Plainview Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Plainview was riding high fresh off their 57-29 takedown of Hartington-Newcastle on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell 53-45 to the Cedar Catholic Trojans on Thursday. The Pirates have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Plainview lost, don't look at Riley Miller. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds. Miller is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last three games she's played. Pressley Alexander was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Anisten Wortmann was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds for Cedar Catholic. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Walter, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 16 points and six boards.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Cedar Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainview will be taking part in a tournament against Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cedar Catholic, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Elkhorn Valley at 6:00 p.m. on February 10.
