Preview: Redwood Rangers vs. Mt. Whitney Pioneers

Redwood is 9-1 against Mt. Whitney since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Redwood Rangers will head out on the road to challenge the Mt. Whitney Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Redwood is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Whitney in California (Redwood is ranked 426th, while Mt. Whitney is ranked 893rd).

Redwood had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 60-51 victory over Golden West on Tuesday. The victory was just what Redwood needed coming off of a 54-25 loss in their prior contest.

Emma Vargas was Redwood's leading scorer, having posted two points.

Meanwhile, Mt. Whitney's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Monache, falling 66-15. Mt. Whitney has not had much luck with Monache recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

The victory got Redwood back to even at 13-13. As for Mt. Whitney, they dropped their record down to 11-15 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Redwood against Mt. Whitney in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 55-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Redwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
