Softball Game Preview: Sioux City West Wolverines vs. Jefferson Yellowjackets

Sioux City West is 2-8 against Jefferson since June of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wolverines will host the Yellowjackets at 5:30 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Sioux City West is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Le Mars, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Jefferson fell victim to Sioux City North and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Stars. Surprisingly, this marked the Yellowjackets' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Carley Steinspring spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on eight hits.

Sioux City West's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Jefferson, they dropped their record down to 9-26 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
