Basketball Recap: Johansen Takes a Loss

Johansen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against the Ceres Bulldogs, falling 44-19. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 952nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 262nd).

Arrayah Stallworth was nothing short of spectacular for Ceres: she almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 15 rebounds, and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Stallworth a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Staggs, who posted ten points.

Johansen's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Ceres, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5.

Johansen will welcome Pacheco at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pacheco will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Johansen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ceres, they will head out to challenge Lathrop at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Ceres is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
