Baseball Recap: Deerfield-Windsor Has No Trouble Against Westwood

While Deerfield-Windsor didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Westwood Wildcats on Friday as they made off with a 9-2 win. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Lane Sceals made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Boyd Pollock, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Deerfield-Windsor hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westwood struck out 17 times.

Deerfield-Windsor's record now sits at 7-3-1. As for Westwood, they moved to 4-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, Deerfield-Windsor and Westwood will both be playing Abbeville Christian Academy the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Generals at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Knights will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
