After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brunswick, Charlton County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Atkinson County Rebels a 16-0 shutout. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
EmmaRae Roberson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.
In other batting news, Charlton County got a massive performance out of Christiona Farmer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was Farmer's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Callie Carter, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Charlton County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .795. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Charlton County moved to 3-3-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Atkinson County, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
