Basketball Recap: Roseville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Yuba City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roseville). They blew past the Yuba City Honkers 66-22 on Friday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tigers had established a 38 point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roseville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Calee Bookhart, who made all 7 shots she took for 19 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Those 19 points gave Bookhart a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emelia Musquez, who posted 21 points and five rebounds.

Bookhart wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Roseville was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Yuba City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cythlali Cortez went 8 of 19 on her way to 14 points and three steals. Cortez has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Letisia Pacheco also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Roseville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for Yuba City, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Roseville has already played their next match, a 42-29 win against Placer on the 28th. As for Yuba City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-29 loss against Twelve Bridges on the 30th.
