Softball Recap: Fossil Ridge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Loveland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fossil Ridge). Everything went their way against the Loveland Red Wolves on Tuesday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The SaberCats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Wolves, too.

Avery Akers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Briella Myers was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Bullers, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Fossil Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loveland struck out six times.

Fossil Ridge's record now sits at 2-4. As for Loveland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fossil Ridge will host Greeley West at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Loveland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rocky Mountain at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lobos have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
