Recap: Saint Joseph Jesters vs. Coastal Christian Conquerors

With a playoff game on the line, the Saint Joseph Jesters rose to the challenge on Thursday. They secured a 42-38 W over the Conquerors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Saint Joseph.

Leading Saint Joseph to victory were Ella Zabala and Leah Zabukovec. Zabala scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Zabukovec scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and eight blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zabala has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Suzanne Ponce, who scored five points along with three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Coastal Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jenna Starkovich. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Starkovich hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Starkovich, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and six steals.

Even though they lost, Coastal Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saint Joseph only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.

Saint Joseph has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Coastal Christian, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-5.

Saint Joseph will take on West Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Saint Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday. Coastal Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
