Soccer Game Preview: Lakeside vs. Cross Keys

The Lakeside Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Cross Keys Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Lakeside took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past Paideia 1-0.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Cross Keys made sure to put some goals up on the board against Stone Mountain on Friday. They blew past the Pirates 7-1. The Phoenix haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Lakeside's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Cross Keys, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Lakeside came up short against Cross Keys when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Lakeside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
