Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Verdugo Hills

Verdugo Hills had won three straight games and Rayleen Castanos did her part to make it four on Wednesday. The Verdugo Hills Dons put the hurt on the Chavez Eagles with a sharp 75-49 victory thanks in part to Castanos, who went 10 of 24 en route to 27 points in addition to eight boards and seven blocks. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Verdugo Hills is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points per game. As for Chavez, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-11.

Verdugo Hills will challenge North Hollywood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Verdugo Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season. As for Chavez, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Arleta at 7:00 p.m.
