Softball Recap: Glasgow Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Glasgow hadn't done well against Fayette recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Falcons. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Brooklynn Morris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Hailey Monnig and Aly Prentzler did most of the damage at the plate: Monnig went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Prentzler went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Monnig has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Halle Fuemmeler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Glasgow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive contests.

Glasgow's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Fayette, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.

Looking ahead, Glasgow will venture away from home to take on Westran at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fayette does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
