Baseball Recap: Pepperell Drops Season-High Score on Darlington

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pepperell). They put the hurt on the Darlington Tigers with a sharp 20-11 victory on Tuesday. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Kaleb Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Godfrey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Frazier, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Pepperell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .592. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Pepperell, bringing their record for this year to 11-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Darlington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Pepperell will have a chance to go back-to-back against Darlington: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
